How this comparison was built. We did not test any of these machines. Everything below comes from the specifications Grizzly and Amazon publish and from how the designs work. Where a competitor detail is not in a listing we can verify, we describe the class of machine rather than guess at a number.

Two ways to buy a 14 inch bandsaw

JET is a JPW Industries brand sold through dealers and Amazon. Grizzly sells direct from its own catalog and website. The 14 inch cast-iron bandsaw is a category where both companies make a pair of models: a 1 HP saw with 6 inches of resaw, and a 1-3/4 HP saw with more resaw capacity. JET's Amazon listings are specific about this, so we can set them side by side with Grizzly's published specifications.

Our JET information comes only from the Amazon listings the Creators API returned. The JWBS-14CS listing describes a 6 inch resaw capacity, an upper and lower cast-iron frame, a rack-and-pinion blade guide post, ball-bearing guides and a micro-adjustable lower guide. The larger JET listing describes a 1.75 HP capacitor-run motor, a 116 inch blade loop for up to 13 inches of resaw, a 360 square inch ground cast-iron table that tilts 0 to 45 degrees right, a 13-1/2 inch throat, a machined-aluminum resaw fence and a five-year warranty. Blade is sold separately.

The 1 HP saws: G0555 and JWBS-14CS

These two are the closest pair. The G0555 is a 1 HP, 110V/220V saw (prewired 110V, 11A) with 6 inches of resaw, a 13-1/2 inch throat, a 14 by 14 inch cast-iron table that tilts 15 degrees left and 45 right, two speeds at 1500 and 3200 FPM, quick-release tension, computer-balanced cast-aluminum wheels, an aluminum rip fence and a miter gauge with a 3/8 inch blade in the box. It weighs 207 lb. The JET JWBS-14CS has a similar 1 HP motor at 115/230V and the same 6 inch resaw height; we cannot verify the table tilt, fence or speed figures from its listing.

For a woodworker who cuts curves, small parts and occasional resaw to 6 inches, either saw does the job and both use 14 inch tires and a standard blade length. The differences are the buying channel and the support. Grizzly gives you a spec sheet with every figure and keeps manuals and parts on the product page. JET gives you a recognized brand through dealers and Amazon. That is a preference, not a performance gap we can measure.

The resaw saws: G0555XH and the 1.75 HP JET

This is where the pair splits by capacity. The Grizzly G0555XH Extreme Series is a 1-3/4 HP, 14 inch saw with 12 inches of resaw built in rather than through a riser block, prewired for 120V and convertible to 220V, with an extruded aluminum resaw fence and a cast-iron frame. The JET 1.75 HP saw lists 13 inches of resaw capacity, a 116 inch blade and a ground cast-iron table. One inch of extra capacity is real but small, and both saws are limited by the blade and setup more than by the extra inch.

If you resaw wide hardwood for veneer or bookmatched panels, read our G0555XH review. The practical trade is that JET's listing gives you a five-year warranty in writing and a quoted table area. Grizzly's page gives you the motor, voltage options and resaw fence, and a direct relationship with the maker. Neither is clearly ahead; it depends on what you value.

What matters more than the badge

Between two saws that are this close on paper, the things that decide long-term satisfaction are mostly practical. Start with delivery. Grizzly ships by freight and the saw arrives on a pallet; JET on Amazon may arrive by a carrier with its own handling rules. In either case, inspect the box before you sign, because a bent fence rail or a cracked casting is far easier to resolve at the door than a week later.

Next, think about parts. A bandsaw wears tires, guide bearings, blades and sometimes a brake or switch. Grizzly keeps manuals and many parts for its models on the product page, and the 14 inch tire and blade sizes are shared with a wide range of brands. JET is a long-established name with dealer support. For either, keep a note of the model number and serial so that when something wears out you can order the right part.

Finally, think about voltage. The G0555 and the JET 1 HP saw are both listed for dual-voltage operation (110V or 115V, and 220V or 230V), so a standard garage outlet works today and a 240V circuit can be used later. Check the wiring instructions in the manual before changing voltage.

How to choose

Choose Grizzly if you want the most published detail and direct support. Choose JET if you prefer a dealer or Amazon relationship and a longer written warranty. Whichever you pick, plan on a good blade and some tuning. The bandsaw is a machine where setup matters more than brand. Frequently asked questions

Is JET better than Grizzly for bandsaws?

On paper the matching models are close. JET lists a five-year warranty on the saw we found, and Grizzly publishes more detail on the saws, but neither shows a clear performance advantage in specifications.

Which Grizzly bandsaw matches a JET 14 inch?

The G0555 matches a 1 HP, 6 inch resaw JET. The G0555XH matches the 1.75 HP, 13 inch resaw JET.

Does JET sell on Amazon?

Yes. JET products are sold through dealers and Amazon, which is why the Amazon buttons on this page go to JET listings and the Grizzly buttons go to Grizzly direct.

Do I need a riser block on the G0555XH?

No. The G0555XH has 12 inches of resaw built in. A riser block is a common upgrade for the standard G0555.
