How this comparison was built. We did not test any of these machines. Everything below comes from the specifications Grizzly and Amazon publish and from how the designs work. Where a competitor detail is not in a listing we can verify, we describe the class of machine rather than guess at a number.
What Laguna offers on Amazon
Laguna Tools is known for its cyclone lines, which you can read about in our Laguna cyclone review. In preparing this comparison our Amazon lookup returned the Laguna DC:15 and Laguna bag and accessory listings, but did not return a Laguna cyclone listing we could verify, so the Amazon card on this page is the DC:15. The DC:15 listing describes a 1.5 HP motor delivering up to 1,100 CFM, filtration of 98 percent of particles down to 2 microns, dual 4 inch inlet ports, 115V/230V operation prewired for 115V, and a 35 gallon (5.3 cubic foot) collection bag. That makes it a single-stage bag collector for small to mid-sized shops.
That is an important distinction, because Laguna is best known for cyclones and this listing is not one. If you want to compare Grizzly cyclones to Laguna cyclones directly, read the review linked above and check Laguna for current cyclone models. This page compares what we can verify: Grizzly cyclones against a Laguna bag collector.
G0860 against the DC:15
These two are matched on motor size, both 1-1/2 HP, and both run on a standard circuit. The Grizzly G0860 is a two-stage cyclone with a 12-3/4 inch aluminum impeller, a 6 inch intake, a 20 gallon drum and a canister filter that Grizzly cleans with a paddle brush. The DC:15 uses a bag and a 2 micron filter with a larger 35 gallon bag.
The practical difference is what happens as the dust load builds. In a bag collector the filter takes the chips as well as the fine dust, so airflow drops as the bag fills. In a cyclone most of the chips fall into the drum before the filter sees them. That is the reason a cyclone filter stays cleaner for longer. The other side of the trade is dimensions: the G0860 is 27-1/2 by 44 inches on the floor, 70 inches tall and 278 lb, and it carries a wireless remote and swivel casters. If your shop is small, measure first. Use the dust collection calculator to size the machine to your ducting.

The G0441 is a different scale. It is a 3 HP, 220V, 22A machine with an 8 inch inlet, a 15-1/2 inch steel impeller, 1654 CFM at 2.0 inches of static pressure, a 113 square foot cartridge filter rated 0.2 to 2 microns and a 55 gallon drum. The blower and barrel rotate 360 degrees, it uses a remote magnetic switch, and the blower can be wall-mounted. Grizzly rates it for three machines at once.
It is also a commitment. It needs a 220V circuit at 22 amps, a 109 inch ceiling clearance and a freight delivery at 400 lb. For a small shop the G0860 is the more realistic choice. For a larger shop with duct runs and several machines, the G0441 is in a different class from either Laguna bag collector on our list. Compare the two Grizzly models directly in G0441 versus G0860.
Grizzly G0441 3 HP Cyclone Dust Collector3 HP cyclone, 1654 CFM at 2.0 in SP, 113 sq ft cartridge, 55 gal drum. What to check before you buy any of these
Start with the electrical supply. The G0860 draws 15 amps at 110V and needs its own circuit. The DC:15 is listed for 115V or 230V and the G0441 requires 220V at 22 amps. If your shop has only 120V circuits, the G0441 is out until you add a 240V circuit. Use the electrical load calculator to see what your panel can carry.
Next, measure the space. The G0860 is 70 inches tall and the G0441 is 109 inches tall, so ceiling height matters. Check the path into the shop as well, because the G0441 ships at 400 lb and the G0860 at 278 lb. Freight delivery is usually curbside, and moving a crated cyclone through a garage door and into position takes planning and two people.
Then think about the duct. A cyclone is only as good as the ducting that feeds it. The G0441 has an 8 inch inlet and the G0860 has a 6 inch intake, so plan to branch to 4 inch drops at each machine, and keep flexible hose short. Fewer bends and shorter runs will gain you more airflow than any change of brand.
Noise and filter care
The G0860 is listed at 78 dB, and the G0441 at 83 to 85 dB. Both are loud enough that you should wear hearing protection when they run. A collector near the shop door or in a closet, with a remote switch, makes the shop more pleasant. The G0860 includes a wireless remote and the G0441 uses a remote magnetic switch.
Filter care is the long-term cost. A canister or cartridge filter needs cleaning, and the G0860 includes a paddle-brush cleaner for that purpose. Bag collectors need bag emptying and periodic bag replacement. If you sand a lot of hardwood or work with fine dust, consider the optional HEPA filter that Grizzly lists for the G0860 and keep a respirator on the hook beside the door.
How to decide
If fine dust is your concern, a cyclone with a fine filter is the better design, and Grizzly publishes the filtration figures clearly. If you want to buy through Amazon and the DC:15 fits your space, it is a reasonable bag collector, but its 35 gallon bag and 2 micron rating place it in a different class from the Grizzly cyclones. Whatever you pick, a collector is only as good as its ducting. Our best dust collectors guide and single-stage versus two-stage comparison explain how to size and plan. Frequently asked questions
Is Laguna better than Grizzly for dust collection?
Laguna is known for its cyclones, but the Laguna listing we could verify on Amazon is a bag collector. Against the Grizzly cyclones, the design difference matters more than the brand.
Which Grizzly matches the Laguna DC:15?
The G0860 matches it on motor size at 1-1/2 HP. They differ on design, since the G0860 is a two-stage cyclone and the DC:15 is a bag collector.
Do I need 220V for these collectors?
The G0860 runs on 110V at 15A and the DC:15 is dual voltage prewired for 115V. The G0441 needs 220V at 22A.
Can I link a Laguna cyclone from this page?
Our lookup did not return a Laguna cyclone listing we could verify, so we link the review instead and do not name a model we could not confirm.
